Lockheed Environment for Automatic Programming
Abstract
The Lockheed Environment for Automatic Programming (LEAP), is an environment for capturing and exploiting design knowledge to produce application system descriptions, software implementations, and other design artifacts. The target application area is distributed reactive systems (e.g., vehicle control systems). LEAP provides intelligent assistance to the different groups and individuals involved in the application development process. LEAP uses a combination of knowledge reuse and reasoning to assist in developing system descriptions and to synthesize software implementations from system descriptions. Users include system and software engineers. System engineers develop application system descriptions and software engineers develop reusable component implementations and synthesis rules. We outline a development scenario using LEAP, describe the LEAP architecture, and discuss briefly how the synthesis process works.
